Q. Can I keep my current phone desk sets with USA Datanet hosted service?
A: No. USA Datanet’s Hosted service is designed to bring you a full suite of features and functionality by using state-of-the-art IP phones.
Q. What other equipment is needed at my location?
A: The hosted service will be connected via a secure, dedicated broadband access connection, and will require a specific router, switch(s), and analog adapter box to be installed at the premise by USA Datanet.
Q. Who is responsible for setting up the Dedicated Broadband Access connection?
A. USA Datanet will arrange for the ordering and installation of the dedicated broadband access connection, as part of the normal installation process.
Q. What if I have existing Dedicated Broadband Access?
A. To insure a smooth transition to your new Hosted IP service, in most cases we will recommend a new dedicated broadband access connection be installed, with USA Datanet handling the ordering and provisioning of the new connection.
Q. Where is the off-premise equipment located?
A. The off-premise equipment is located in USA Datanet’s secure data center in Syracuse, NY.
Q. What security is provided at the data center?
A. The Hosted IP platform runs on a proprietary software platform backed by carrier grade security. The premises are manned and secured 24x7x365.
Q. How secure are my phone calls on this network?
A USA Datanet’s Hosted IP Service will never transverse voice calling over the public Internet. USA Datanet uses reliable, high speed, dedicated broadband access connections between the customers’ office and USA Datanet’s switching architecture and our carrier partners.

Q. How long will the installation of on premise equipment and phones take?
A. Typically, once the dedicated broadband access is in place, the installation of all on premise equipment takes one day.
Q. Will I be out of service during business hours during the installation?
A. We will arrange the cutover to the new Hosted IP Service to be done at your convenience in off-hours, to eliminate service interruption during regular business hours.
Q. What are my responsibilities in the cutover process?
A. Once the date for the installation is agreed upon, USA Datanet will handle the entire installation. The customer will be responsible for ordering and/or designating the use of an existing a POTS Line for 911. Training will occur before the cutover, so employees are familiar with the new service. We will work with the customer to arrange the best time for this training.
